BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield High School varsity football team is getting ready for the upcoming season.
The Bengals hosted a preseason scrimmage at Foley Field on Wednesday, August 15, with Johnson Regional and Demarest.
Bloomfield will host its game scrimmage on August 23 against West Essex at 5 p.m.
The season opener is Thursday, August 30, as the Bengals host Nutley. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
Head coach Mike Carter’s team had a solid 6-5 playoff campaign last fall. In the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 5 playoff quarterfinals, the seventh-seeded Bengals upset No. 2 seed Passaic County Tech, 21-3. Bloomfield then lost to third-seeded Union City, 35-0, in the semifinals.
