Bloomfield HS football team rolls by West Orange to move to 4-0

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Senior running back Brandon Fernandes ran for two touchdowns and the Bloomfield High School varsity football team improved to a 4-0 record with a 29-7 win over West Orange HS on Friday night, Sept. 30, at Foley Field under soggy conditions.

The Bengals have been dominant in each of their games, winning them all by double digits.

After recording a safety to open the scoring, Fernandes scored on a 3-yard run to make it 8-0 at the end of the first quarter. The point-after kick was missed.

After a scoreless second quarter, West Orange got on the scoreboard on Michael Osuji’s 1-yard run and Ryan Carraha’s point-after kick to cuti it to 8-7 in the third quarter.

But the Bengals took control the rest of the way.

Senior quarterback Ryan Mondo threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Myles Toppin and senior Victor Saccaro kicked the extra point to extend the Bengals’ lead to 15-7 in the third.

The Bengals scored twice in the fourth quarter to seal it. Fernandes had a 3-yard touchdown run and senior Ky Bowman ran for a 7-yard touchdown. Saccaro kicked the extra points.

West Orange fell to 1-3.
