BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The 80th Bloomfield vs. Montclair Thanksgiving Day high school varsity football game will take place at Woodman Field in Montclair at 10:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving.
This year’s game will determine the co-champion of the inaugural North Jersey Super Football Conference-Liberty Blue Division. Both teams are 4-1 in the division. The winner will share the title with West Orange, which is 5-1 in the division.
The Bengals are looking for payback after losing to Montclair, 40-14, in the first round of the state North Jersey Section 1, Group 5 playoffs on Nov. 11 at Foley Field. The Bengals, seeded fourth, moved to a 7-2 overall record.
Last season, the Bengals defeated Montclair, 41-27, in the Thanksgiving Day game that was played on Thanksgiving Day eve at Foley Field. It was the Bengals’ first win over Montclair since 2003. The teams met in the 16-13 double-overtime thriller won by Montclair in the North Jersey Section 1, Group 5 championship game at MetLife Stadium in 2012.
