Bloomfield HS girls’ soccer team keeps up solid turnaround

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Melanie Rodriguez scored two goals and Gina Perrotta also had a goal to lead the Bloomfield High School girls’ varsity soccer team to a 3-0 win over Union City on Friday, Oct. 19 in a non-conference game.

Lauren Synnott also had an assist for the Bengals, who improved to a 9-10 record.

The Bengals gave a good effort against No. 2 seed Nutley before dropping a 1-0 decision in the round of 16 in the Essex County Tournament on Oct. 18 in Nutley.

Nutley scored the goal in the second half. With the loss, the Bengals had their five-game winning streak snapped.

For the Bengals, it was a marked improvement from their last meeting with Nutley. Bloomfield lost to Nutley, 4-1, Sept. 27, in Nutley.

The Bengals have enjoyed a nice turnaround after a 3-9 start to the season.
