Bloomfield HS indoor track and field teams give good efforts at Essex County Relays

BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield High School boys’ and girls’ indoor track and field teams gave good efforts at the Essex County Relays Championships on Jan. 2 at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.

The BHS boys’ team finished seventh in the team standings among the 27 schools.

The 4×400-meter relay team earned the third-place medal as juniors Rendell Amilcar and Jordan Mosley and seniors Colyer Samper and Saif Younas clocked 3:34.76.

Senior Makaih Ortiz threw 36 feet-8.25 inches and senior Warlys LIzardo threw 34-0.75 to combine for the fourth-place medal in the team shot put.

The BHS girls’ team finished ninth out of 26 schools.

The 4×400-meter relay team earned the third-place medal, with junior Angellina Ramos, junior Sarai Suriel, freshman Luciana Rubino and senior Morgan Wyatt clocking 4::16.40.

The 4×200-meter relay team of sophomore Febe Evans, junior Keziah Anderson, Wyatt and Suriel earned the fifth-place medal in 1:52.75.

Junior Amanda Giunta, junior Joke-Sindy Casimir, senior Tia-Lee Dawson and junior LIzbeth Morocho took the sixth-place medal  in the 4×800 in 10:57.89.

Juniors Alexis Taylor (28-7) and Tennesia Morrison (24-7.25) combined to finish sixth in the team shot put.

St. Benedict’s Prep won the boys’ title while West Orange won the girls’ team crown.
