BLOOMFIELD – Kristina Collins went 3-for-3 with three RBI and a run and fellow Rachelle Ramirez also went 3-for-3 with two RBI and three runs to lead the Bloomfield High School varsity softball team to a 9-3 win over Wayne Valley on April 21 at Clarks Pond South field.
The victory was head coach Bob Mayer’s 499th in his career.
Sophomore Ayana Andrade-Zygmunt went 2-for-3 with two RBI; senior Crystal Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with two runs; sophomore Desiree Ramos was 2-for-2 with a run and senior Samantha Corio had a triple. The Bengals improved to a 4-7 record.
The Bengals will participate in the Clifton Invitational this Saturday, April 23. The Bengals will play two games. They will face Memorial at 3 p.m. and Clifton at 5 p.m.
In their previous action, the Bengals lost at Livingston, 4-3, April 19 in walk-off fashion. BHS scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie it 3-3 before Livingston won it in the bottom of the seventh. Juniors Kasey Coury and Jalia Santos each went 2-for-3 and scored a run apiece and Ramirez had a double and two RBI for BHS. Corio went 1-for-3 with a run.
