BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield High School varsity softball team will gear up for the Essex County Tournament.
The sixth-seeded Bengals will host a first round game on May 5 against either No. 11 seed Newark Academy, No. 22 seed North 13th. St. Tech or No. 27 seed Arts. The winner will advance to the quarterfinals on May 12 at Verona. The semifinals are May 18 at Ivy Hill Park-Seton Hall University. The final is May 19 at Ivy Hill Park.
The top seed is Cedar Grove. Mount St. Dominic is the No. 2 seed; West Essex is the No. 3 seed; Verona is the No. 4 seed; and Columbia is the No. 5 seed.
The Bengals had their three-game winning streak snapped with a 5-1 loss to Verona on April 24 at Clarks Pond South.
Bloomfield bounced back with a 10-2 win at Newark Academy on April 28 in Livingston. The Bengals fell to Cedar Grove, 6-3, April 30, in Cedar Grove to move to a 6-7 record.
