Bloomfield HS softball team has good ECT run

BLOOMFIELD – The Bloomfield High School varsity softball team had a good run in the Essex County Tournament.

The seventh-seeded Bengals lost at second-seeded West Essex, 3-0, in the quarterfinals on May 14 in North Caldwell to move to a 9-13 record.

In the first round, the Bengals defeated No. 10 seed Verona, 3-1, May 9, at Clarks Pond South.

The Bengals defeated Newark Academy, 7-6, May 12, at Clarks Pond South in a Super Essex Conference non-division game. Jalia Santos singled and doubled and drove in three runs; Ayana Andrade-Zygmunt had two hits and an RBI; Kasey Courey had a double and an RBI and Crystal Rodriguez had two RBI for the Bengals.
