Bloomfield HS track and field athletes give good efforts at state Group 4 Championships

BLOOMFIELD – The five Bloomfield High School track and field athletes who competed at the state Group 4 Championships enjoyed fine efforts during the meet at Egg Harbor, June 3-4.

Senior Aniya Allen finished sixth in the girls’ 100 high hurdles in 14.95. Allen also was seventh in the high jump at 5 feet-4 inches.

Sophomore Mackenzie Presume and Aicha Naouai were the other two BHS girls’ participants. Presume took ninth in the 400-meter dash in 58.11 and finished 12th in the 800-meter run in 2:19.32. Naouai was 11th in the javelin at 114-3.

Juniors Myles Toppin and Brandon Fernandes were the BHS boys’ participants.

Toppin competed in all three jumping events. He took eighth in both the triple jump (43-9 ½) and high jump (6-4) and 14th in the long jump (20-6 ½). Fernandes was 16th in the javelin at 145-1.

The meet consisted of the top six finishers in each event from the state sectionals the previous weekend.

The top six finishers, plus wild-card berths, in each event at the Group meets qualified for the state Meet of Champions at Central Regional HS in Bayville on June 8.
