Bloomfield HS track and field athletes give good efforts at state Meet of Champions

BLOOMFIELD – Bloomfield High School’s Myles Toppin, Aniya Allen, and Aicha Naouai gave good efforts at the state track and field Meet of Champions at Central Regional HS in Bayville, June 8.

Toppin, a junior, earned the sixth-place medal in the boys’ high jump. He leaped 6-feet-4 inches for a five-way tie for sixth place. The top eight finishers in each event earned medals.

Toppin also finished 12th in the triple jump at 44-4.

On the girls’ side, Allen, a senior, finished in a tie for 14th place with 13 other competitors in the high jump with a leap of 5-2.  In the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles, Allen placed ninth in 14.90.

Naouai, a sophomore, finished 26th out of 41 competitors in the girls’ javelin at 104-5.

The meet consisted of the top six finishers in each event, plus wild-card berths, from the state Group Championships the previous weekend.
