BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield High School boys’ and girls’ track teams enjoyed impressive showings at the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 State Championships held at Clifton, May 25-26.
The boys’ team finished fifth in the boys’ team standings and girls’ team finished seventh in the girls’ team standings among the 20 schools.
La’Shan White won the 400-meter hurdles in 56.22 and took second in both the 400-meter dash in 49.32 and the 110-meter hurdles in 14.58 to lead the boys’ team.
Saif Younas was third in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.45. The 4×100-meter relay team was third in 44.12 and the 4×400-meter relay team was also third in 3:26.60.
On the girls’ side, Aicha Naouai finished second in the javelin at 124 feet-9 inches to lead BHS. Kaela Edwards took third in the 100-meter hurdles in 14.70 and sixth in the 100-meter dash in 13.00. Mackenzie Prezume was third in the 400-meter dash in 59.78 and sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:20.40. The 4×400-meter relay team finished fifth in 4:07.08 and the 4×100 relay was sixth in 50.63.
The top six finishers in each event will advance to the NJSIAA Group 4 State Championships at Franklin HS, June 1-2.
