BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The Bloomfield High School wrestling team defeated Lyndhurst, 42-30, Jan. 24 at the “Pit” at BHS.
The Bengals improved to a 13-3 record this season.

132: Paul Flores decisioned Brandon Vitacco, 11-4
170: Zac Andruchowitz decisioned Victor Jorge, 6-0.
182: Jarred Garcia pinned Aidan Stitzer, 1:21
195: James Dameus pinned Ronnie Baliatico, 1:41
220: Javon Whitehead pinned Justin Diller, 1:22
285: Xavier Gulley pinned Dorian Ylatopa, 0:33
BHS head coach Ryan Smircich, indeed, has been proud of his team’s efforts this season.
“The kids are doing a great job and working hard in practice on a daily basis,” said Smircich in an email to EssexNewsDaily.com. “All credit belongs to the kids and their parents.”
Smircich cited some key individuals.
“Paul Flores is having an excellent senior year and really contributing to our line-up. (The) same could be said for Javon Whitehead as well. Also, Gerald VanBaelen, a freshman, has been a major contributor in our line-up. He is a very disciplined person.”
Overall, the Bengals have demonstrated outstanding teamwork, much to Smircich’s delight.
“The kids are having fun and are doing an excellent job helping their teammates, whether it’s through teaching each other wrestling moves or talking to each other after a tough loss.”
The Bengals will battle Nutley tonight, Jan. 25, at 6 p.m. in Nutley in a Super Essex Conference crossover match. Nutley also is having a strong season with a 12-3 record.
