WEST ORANGE, NJ — The Bloomfield High School wrestling team gave solid efforts at the 45th Essex County Tournament at Richard J. Codey Arena in West Orange Jan. 16-17.
The Bengals had six medal winners.
Zachary Andruchowitz, a senior seeded No. 1, took third place in the 182-pound weight class as he posted a 6-4 decision over West Orange’s Daniel Pereira in the third-place consolation.
Gerald Van Baelen, a sophomore seeded No. 2, took fourth place in the 120-pound weight class. In the third-place consolation, Van Baelen was pinned by West Orange’s Damian Lee Torres in 5:50.
Dillon Jennings, a junior, placed fifth in the 220-pound weight class, and seniors Yosvaldy Dominguez and D’Isaiah Larrea each took sixth place in their respective classes. In the fifth-place consolations, Jennings, seeded second, decisioned Livingston’s Vincent Militello by an 8-3 score; Dominguez, seeded 13th, was pinned by Livingston’s Anthony Newman in 1:16 in the 195-pound weight class and Larrea, seeded seventh, was pinned by Cedar Grove’s William Messinger in 5:23 the 145-pound weight class.
Juan Millan, a freshman seeded third, took seventh place in the 113-pound weight class with a pin in 3:48 over Barringer’s Andres Velazquez in the seventh-place consolation.
The Bengals finished 10th overall in the team standings. Seton Hall Prep won the team title for the fifth straight season.
