Bloomfield Senior American Legion baseball team clinches first place in division

State tournament begins July 16

BLOOMFIELD (updated Tuesday July 12, 11:18 a.m.) – The Bloomfield Senior American Legion baseball team clinched first place in the American Division of the Essex County Senior American Legion League.

Bloomfield, consisting of Bloomfield High School players, had a 13-3 record for 26 points through July 11 in the five-team division. Bloomfield also qualified for the state tournament, which consists of four districts. The districts will run July 16-20. District 1 will be held at either Breslin Field in Lyndhurst or New Milford Municipal Complex; District 2 will be held at Teener League Field in Union; District 3 will be held at Mercer County Park in West Windsor and District 4 will be held at Union Field in West Deptford. Bloomfield will play in District 1, but the site was not immediately known.

The Final 8 will be held at Moody Park in Ewing Township.
