BLOOMFIELD, NJ – The United States Club Soccer Mid-Atlantic Regionals will kick off June 30 in Somerset. The ultimate prize at stake for two Bloomfield hopefuls is a trip to the United States Club Nationals and a chance at the US Club National Cup starting July 20 at the Aurora Sports Park, outside of Denver, Colorado.
The Bloomfield Soccer Club had two teams qualify for the regionals – the U14 Boys Bloomfield Lions and the U17 Boys Bloomfield XI. For the Bloomfield XI squad, this is familiar territory having made it to last year’s National Cup Elite 8 and a heartbreaking elimination on goal differential tie-breakers.
If the Bloomfield teams make it through to Denver, already waiting are the US Club West Regionals champions from Southern California’s Athletico Football (U14 boys) and the Powerful AVSC Storm (U17 Boys) from San Bernadino’s Apple Valley, and from the US South Central San Antonio’s Lonestar FC (U17 Boys) and FC Forzi (U14 boys) from outside Dallas.
Other regional qualifiers from the National Cup are concluding now in Winston-Salem, N.C., Boise, Idaho, and the Midwest regionals in Waukegan, Illinois.
The U14 Bloomfield boys will open Bloomfield’s participation in group play Saturday morning, June 30, against Global Premier Soccer Massachusetts and the U17 boys will open later in the afternoon against the Valencia Soccer Academy from Long Island.
