BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Bloomfield High School’s Kaela Edwards and La’Shan White enjoyed fine performances at the NJSIAA Group 4 indoor track and field State Championships at the Bennett Center in Toms River on Feb. 17.
Edwards took second place in the girls’ 55-meter hurdles in a school-record 8.31. White finished in fifth place in the boys’ 400-meter dash in 50.76.
Edwards and White qualified for the NJSIAA State Meet of Champions at the Bennett Center on Feb. 24. The Meet of Champions consists of the top six finishers in each event, plus wild-card berths, from the Group State meets.
The Group 4 State Championship meet consists of the top six finishers in each event from the section meets. Also for Bloomfield at the Group 4 meet, Morgan Wyatt was 15th in the girls’ preliminaries of the 55-meter dash; Mackenzie Prezume was 20th in the girls’ 400-meter dash finals; the girls’ 4×400-meter relay team was 11th in the finals; Roshaun Wilson took 22nd in the boys’ 400-meter finals; White was 17th in the boys’ preliminaries of the 55-meter hurdles; and the boys’ 4×400 relay team was 19th in the finals.
