BLOOMFIELD – Mike Carter, a junior left fielder and one of the captains on the Rutgers University baseball team, enjoyed a good series against Michigan State University this past weekend in East Lansing, Mich.
The 2013 Bloomfield High School graduate had a team-high six hits in 13 at-bats in the series.
The Scarlet Knights were swept in the three-game series. It was the Scarlets Knights’ Big Ten Conference opener.
The lefty-hitting Carter, who bats No. 2 in the lineup, went 2 for 4 in the first game March 25 as RU lost 5-2.
The next day, Carter, as the DH, went 2 for 5 with an RBI and two runs in the 5-4 loss.
Carter went 2 for 4 with an RBI and two runs in the 6-5 loss on March 27.
Rutgers fell to 8-14 overall.
Carter, the all-time hits leader at BHS, has enjoyed a solid career thus far at Rutgers.
Carter, who was a 2014 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American, was named to the Preseason Big Ten Players to Watch List this season. He was named to the 2015 Spring Academic All-Big Ten.
