LIVINGSTON, NJ (updated Saturday Oct. 14, 11:58 a.m.) – The Bloomfield High School varsity football team dropped a heartbreaking 27-26 decision to LIvingston on Friday night, Oct. 13, at Livingston HS.
Senior running back Jeremy Whitherspoon had a strong performance with 288 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 23 carrries (12.52 yards per carry). Whitherspoon also had nine tackles on defense as a defensive back.
The Bengals lost their third straight game to move to a 2-3 record. Livingston won its second straight to move to 3-3.
Defensively for the Bengals, senior Jeremiah Askins had nine tackles, including two for loss; senior outside linebacker Rouby Metellus had eight tackles, including one sack; junior Lenny Mumford had seven tackles, including four for loss and two sacks,; senior linebacker Joe Bumpus had seven tackles, including one sack; senior lineman Joe Pentz had five tackles; senior lineman Chris Lazard had four tackles; junior Will Robinson had five tackles and senior defensive back Kevin Bretz had four tackles.
The Bengals will host East Orange Campus on Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. East Orange Campus is idle this week and brings a two-game losing streak.
