BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Senior forward Joe Dente notched a hat trick in the first half and senior midfielder Sammy Freedson had a second-half goal to lead the Columbia High School varsity boys soccer team to a 4-1 win over Bloomfield High School on Sept. 27 at Brookdale Park in Bloomfield in a Super Essex Conference-Liberty Divison game.

Senior defenseman Bismark Asiedu and senior midfielder Avery Coreschi each had an assist and junior goalie Sam Maidenberg made 10 saves for the Cougars, who improved to a 5-3 record.

The Bengals’ goal was an own goal by Columbia. Matthew Vitella made nine saves for BHS, which moved to a 4-5 record.
