BLOOMFIELD, NJ – Xavier Gulley finished in second place and Danel Felix finished in third place in their respective weight classes to lead the Bloomfield High School wrestling team at the NJSIAA District 9 tournament held at Phillipsburg HS on Feb. 17.
Gulley advanced to the 285-pound weight class final, but lost to Joe Andes, of Hackettstown, by pin in 22 seconds to finish in second place.
Felix won the third-place consolation at the 132-pound weight class with a pin over Brandon Vitacco, of Lyndhurst/North Arlington, in 3:10.
Gulley and Felix each advanced to the Region 3 tournament at West Orange HS, Feb. 21, 23 and 24. The region tournament consists of the top three finishers in each weight class at the District 9, 10, 11 and 12 tournaments.
Bloomfield finished sixth in the team standings among the nine teams in the district tournament.
Zachary Andruchowitz finished fourth in the 160-pound weight class for Bloomfield in the district tournament.
