East Orange Campus HS boys’ basketball team defeats Bloomfield

EAST ORANGE, NJ – Izaiah Poole had 22 points with six assists and five rebounds and Mario Gunn posted 10 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks and three assists to lead the East Orange Campus High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 60-54 win at Bloomfield, Jan. 26, in a Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division game.

Kaleb Harmon had nine points and three rebounds; Justin Singh-Smith had six points, four rebounds and two assists; Shelder Racine had five points; Darren Coote and NyJae Mann Lanier each had three points and Nehemiah Benisrael added two points as the Jaguars snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 7-9 overall and 3-6 in the division.

In earlier action, the Jaguars lost to Columbia, 61-40, Jan. 22 at home in a divisional game. Singh-Smith had 11 points and Benisrael had eight points and eight rebounds. Gunn had six points and five rebounds and Poole had five points and three assists.

EOCHS fell to Montclair, 48-45, Jan. 24 in a divisional game at home. Poole had 14 points; Racine had 12 points; Singh-Smith had 11 points, 10 rebounds and three assists; Gunn recorded five points and pulled down six rebounds; and Xavier Stamps had two points.

The seeding meeting for the 73rd Essex County Tournament was scheduled for Monday night, Jan. 28, at Caldwell High School. The brackets will be released on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at noon.
