UPDATE: East Orange Campus HS boys’ basketball team defeats Capital Prep, Conn., falls to Christian Brothers Academy

EAST ORANGE – Arthur Mitchell scored 30 points and Marquise Kindel had 20 points, four assists and two steals to lead the East Orange Campus High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 79-51 home win over Capital Prep, Conn. on Jan. 29. Randy Joseph had 10 rebounds; Dwight Pressly had eight rebounds and Anton Lawrence had seven assists.

The Jaguars fell to Christian Brothers Academy, 68-50, in The Valerie Fund Basketball Challenge at the Pine Belt Arena in Toms River on Sunday, Jan. 31, to move to a 9-6 record. Kindel had 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds and Jordan Taylor had 12 points for the Jaguars. Mekhi Chester had 10 points; Joseph had nine points and grabbed six rebounds and Lawrence had five points.

The Jaguars received the No. 6 seed in the 70th Essex County Tournament. EOCHS received byes in the first three preliminary rounds and will begin play in the first round on Feb. 13.
The Jaguars reached the ECT final last year, losing to Seton Hall Prep.
