EAST ORANGE, NJ – Malcolm Barnes won the high jump at 6 feet, 2 inches and finished second in the 55-meter hurdles to help the East Orange Campus High School boys’ indoor track and field team finish second overall in the boys’ team standings at the Essex County Championships, Jan. 21, at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
The Jaguars, who were the two-time defending champion, had 49 team points. St. Benedict’s Prep won the team title with 105 points.
Al-Shadee Salaam took second in the 55-meter dash in 6.58 and third in the 200-meter dash in 22.37 for the Jaguars.
Kishaun Richardson finished fourth in the 400-meter dash in 50.77 and fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:02.16.
In the 55-meter dash, Dominic Dazzell was third in 6.67 and Ian Brown was fourth in 6.78. Dazzell took sixth in 23.03 and Kahsim Daniels was seventh in 23.14 in the 200 dash.
In the 400 dash, Geraldo Gibson was 18th in 53.17 and Nasir Montgomery took 20th in 53.49. Jordan Little finished 14th in the 1,600 run in 4:48.78. Quadir Scott and Matthew Parchment each finished ninth in the high jump at 5-6. In the shot put, Christopher Stultz was 16th at 36-5.75 and Keshawn Munford was 20th at 35-5.
The Orange High School boys’ team was led by Alex Recelin, who was 26th in the 800-meter run in 2:12.30.
On the girls’ side, EOCHS didn’t gain any points in the team standings, but was led by Melesha Sylvester, who took seventh in the high jump at 4-6, while teammate Azariah Christopher was ninth, also at 4-6.
In the shot put, Ashante Rudolph took ninth at 26-7 for EOCHS. Teammates Asia Odom was 11th in 1:03.44 and Bianca Koudou was 17th in 1:03.98 in the 400 dash.
