EAST ORANGE, NJ – For the second straight season, the East Orange Campus High School boys’ indoor track and field team won the team title at the NJSIAA Group 4 State Championships at the Bennett Center in Toms River on Saturday, Feb. 17.
The Jaguars, under head coach Lance Wigfall, swept all the major meet titles this season. They won the Super Essex Conference, Essex County Relays, Essex County Championships, NJSIAA Group 4 State Relays and NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 4 State Championships, along with Saturday’s NJSIAA Group 4 State Championships.
EOCHS had 37 points at the Group 4 State meet, based on the top six finishes in each event. West Windsor Plainsboro South and Franklin each had 34 points.
Akeem Lindo won the 55-meter hurdles in 7.31 and the 4×400-meter relay team finished in first place in 3:24.46 to lead the Jaguars.
Al-Tariq Dunson was third in the 55-meter hurdles in 7.60 for the Jaguars.
In the 400-meter dash, Lindo was third in 50,01; Immyouri Etienne was fourth in 50.75 and Kishaun Richardson was sixth in 50.78 for EOCHS.
On the girls’ side, EOCHS was led by Kevaray Gilette, who was third in the 55-meter hurdles in 8.54.
The Group Championships consisted of the top six finishers in each event from the section meets.
The top six finishers in each event, plus wild-card berths, in the Group Championships will advance to the NJSIAA Meet of Champions at the Bennett Center on Feb. 25.
