EAST ORANGE, NJ – For the fourth consecutive season, the East Orange Campus High School boys’ track and field team won the boys’ team title at the Essex County Championships, May 18-19, at Woodman Field in Montclair.
Under rainy conditions, the Jaguars totalled 98 points. St. Benedict’s Prep was second with 68 points.
Senior Akeem Lindo won both the 110-meter hurdles in 13.89 and the 400-meter hurdles in 54.18 to lead the Jaguars, under head coach Lance Wigfall. Lindo also took third in the 200-meter dash in 22.66.
Junior Kishaun Richardson won the 400-meter dash in 49.10; took fourth in the 200-meter dash in 22.92; and placed sixth in the 800-meter run in 2:00.3. Senior Immyouri Etienne was fourth in 50.65 in the 400 dash.
In the 110-meter hurdles, senior Al-Tariq Dunson was second in 14.07 and senior Ibrahim Fobay was third in 14.63. Fobay was second in the 400 hurdles in 54.52. Freshman Al-Shadee Salaam took fifth in the 100-meter dash in 11.15.
Fobay, freshman Akeem Henry, sophomore Keenan Bartley and freshman Jeremie Botobikpissiwon the 4×400-meter relay in 3:24.18. Senior Fayeson Carney finished sixth in the 200 dash in 23.27.
Senior Treymont Carter took second in the shot put at 49 feet-5 ¾ inches and placed fifth in the discus at 122-9. Senior McKinley Smith was fourth in the triple jump at 42-2 ¼.
On the girls’ side, EOCHS tied with Glen Ridge for sixth place with 26 points. Orange was eighth with 22 points.
Senior Kevaray Gillette won the 100 hurdles in 14.63 and took second in the 400 hurdles in 1:03.16 to lead EOCHS. Sophomore Alice Johnson was third in the triple jump at 35-1 ½. Gillette, junior Asia Odom, sophomore Renesha Campbell and Johnson took fifth in the 4×400 in 4:12.96.
For OHS, senior Joanna Marcelin was second in the triple jump at 35-4 and fifth in the long jump at 17-1 ½; senior Tatayanna Beckford was third in the javelin at 102-5; and junior Shahyan Abraham took third in the shot put at 35-4.
