East Orange Campus HS boys track and field teams takes third place at Essex County Relays

EAST ORANGE, NJ — The East Orange Campus High School boys indoor track and field team finished third overall in the boys team standings at the Essex County Relays held at the Ocean Breeze Complex in Staten Island, N.Y., on Sunday, Jan. 12. St. Benedict’s Prep was first with 38 points, Montclair was second with 37 points and EOCHS was third with 35 points.

Matthew Parchment leaped 6 feet for the second-highest leap of the meet and Rahim Samuels leaped 5-6 to finish seventh. Together, they finished second overall in the team high jump.

The Jaguars took third in three events: the shuttle hurdles in 31.39, the 4×200 relay in 1:31.49 and the 4×400 in 3:28.95.

On the girls’ side, the 4×200 relay took first place in 1:45.60 and the 4×400 took second place in 4:14.22 to lead EOCHS, which finished sixth overall in the girls team standings. Montclair won the girls team title.
