EAST ORANGE, NJ – In one of the longest series in state history, the East Orange Campus High School varsity football team will visit Barringer in the season finale on Thanksgiving Day at Schools Stadium in Newark at 10:30 a.m.
The Jaguars have beaten Barringer in each of the past eight seasons on Thanksgiving after the series was resumed following a hiatus from 1994-2008. The series is the sixth longest in New Jersey annals, dating back to 1897,
Last season, the Jaguars defeated Barringer, 21-0, at Paul Robeson Stadium. EOCHS leads the all-time series, 58-39-9.
EOCHS, under second-year head coach Rae Oliver, is coming off a 28-7 loss at fourth-seeded Ridge in the quarterfinals of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 5 state playoffs on Nov. 2. The loss ended the Jaguars’ four-game winning streak and moved their record to 6-3. EOCHS was seeded fifth.
Barringer is 4-4 this season.
