East Orange Campus HS girls basketball team defeats Nutley to advance to ECT quarterfinals

EAST ORANGE, NJ – The sixth-seeded East Orange Campus High School girls varsity basketball team defeated No. 11 seed Nutley, 32-29, in the first round (round of 16) of the Essex County Tournament, Feb. 9 at home.

The Jaguars won their fifth straight and improved to 11-8. EOCHS beat Nutley for the second time during the week. Four days earlier, they defeated Nutley, 47-29, in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game at home, as Destiny Battle had 12 points with three rebounds and three steals; Triniti Haskins had 10 points and four rebounds; Brianna Mills had nine points and three steals; Brianna Turner had eight points with two steals and two rebounds; Lakel Willis had eight points and four rebounds and Aliya Ali had two steals.

EOCHS advances to the quarterfinals at third-seeded West Orange, Feb. 16. EOCHS fell to West Orange in both divisional meetings this season.

The Jaguars received the No. 9 seed in the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 1, Group 4 state tournament that begins Feb. 25.
