East Orange Campus HS girls’ basketball team seeks to improve; ECT looms

EAST ORANGE, NJ – The East Orange Campus High School girls’ varsity basketball team hopes to gain more improvement.

EOCHS fell to West Orange, 52-35, Jan. 22 in West Orange in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game. Freshman Triniti Haskins had 13 points with four rebounds, two assists and two steals; senior Brianna Mills had 10 points; and sophmore Destiny Battle and junior Brianna Turner each had six points.

Battle had 13 points and six rebounds in the 64-41 divisional loss to a strong Newark Tech team, Jan. 24, at Newark Tech. Haskins had nine points, four rebounds and three assists; Turner scored eight points; Mills seven points, four rebounds and four steals; and junior Nadayah Stubbs added two points.

Mills had 13 points and four rebounds and Battle had 12 points, 11 rebounds and four steals in the 40-34 loss to Newark Arts, Jan. 26, at EOCHS in a divisional game. EOCHS moved to a 6-8 overall record and 2-6 in the division. Senior Lakel Willis had seven points; Haskins had three rebounds and Turner added two points and three blocks.

EOCHS hopes to make a good run in the 45th Essex County Tournament. The seeding meeting was scheduled for Jan. 28. The brackets will be released Jan. 29.
