East Orange Campus HS girls’ hoops seek to regroup

EAST ORANGE, NJ – The East Orange Campus High School girls’ varsity basketball team hopes to bounce back from two straight losses last week.

The Jaguars lost to a strong Newark University team, 49-37, Jan. 16, at home in a Super Essex Conference-American Division game. Brianna Mills had 13 points; Brianna Turner posted seven points and five rebounds; and Jessenia Nevius added six points. Lakel Willis had two points and five rebounds and Cinderella Hamilton had four points and five rebounds. University improved to 12-1 overall and 5-0 in the division.

EOCHS fell to host West Orange, 52-28, Jan. 18, in a division game to move to a 7-5 overall record. Turner had nine points; Mills had seven points; and Destiny Battle and Willis each had six points. EOCHS and West Orange are tied for third place in the division with 4-3 division records. University was in first place and Newark Tech was in second place.
