East Orange Campus HS indoor track and field teams excel at Essex County Relays

EAST ORANGE – The East Orange Campus High School boys’ and girls’ indoor track and field teams excelled at the Essex County Relays on Sunday, Jan. 3, at the Jersey City Armory.

The boys’ team finished second in the boys’ team standings behind winner St. Benedict’s Prep. EOCHS had 35 points, while St. Benedict’s Prep had 46 points.

Desean Smith, Wesley Lindo, Akeem Lindo and Recardo Lovelock won the 4×200-meter relay in 1:33.37.

Cory Poole, Akeem Lindo, Ibrahim Fobay, and Charon Jenkins took second place in the 4×55-meter shuttle hurdles in 31.37.

Jenkins and Tashun Harrison won the team high jump relay. Jenkins was first overall with a leap of 6 feet, 2 inches, and Harrison was third, also at 6-2.

The Jaguars also were fifth in the 4×400 in 3:33.41 with Lovelock, Poole, Akeem Lindo and Wesley Lindo; sixth in the 4×800 in 8:47.79 with Tyron Odum, Joshua Simpkins, Shawn Williamson and Isaac Howard; and fourth in the sprint medley relay in 3:47.77 with Akeem Lindo, Dominic Dazzell, Simpkins, Odum.

The EOCHS girls’ team tied with Millburn for fourth place overall in the girls’ team standings among the 18 scoring teams. Columbia was first for the 13th straight year, Montclair was second and Livingston was fourth.

Mellica Gordon, Mary Pierre-Louis, Adelia Francis and Kevaray Gilette won the 4×51.5-meter shuttle hurdles in 36.16 to lead the Lady Jaguars. Kadie Smith joined Pierre-Louis, Gordon and Gilette in taking third place in the 4×200 in 1:50.94.
