EAST ORANGE – The East Orange Campus High School varsity softball team clinched the co-championship of the Super Essex Conference-Independence Division.
The Jaguars shared the title with St. Vincent Academy.
The Jaguars defeated Technology twice on consecutive days. Naiva Altenor had three hits and two RBI; Brittany Alicea had two hits and three RBI; Tiara Bradley, Kiara Cruz, and Josie Pascual each had three hits and one RBI; and Kayla Cruz, Marilyn Mejia and Jamilah Stevenson each had three hits in the 17-12 win over Technology on May 17 in Newark.
Bradley went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs in the 22-12 home win over Technology on May 18. Pascual went 2-for-4 with four RBI and three runs and Kayla Cruz went 4-for-5 with one double, two RBI and three runs. Stevenson went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs and Kiara Cruz went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and one run.
EOCHS defeated Arts, 15-4, May 20, to improve to a 14-2 record.
The 15th-seeded Jaguars were scheduled to visit No. 2 seed Bridgewater-Raritan in the first round of the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 4 tournament on May 24.
