EAST ORANGE, NJ – Former East Orange Campus High School girls’ basketball teammates Teana Muldrow and Kyi English faced each other when their collegiate teams played in the first round of the NCAA Women’s National Invitational Tournament.
Muldrow, a senior forward, had a game-high 20 points and eight rebounds to spark the University of West Virginia to an 83-50 home win over Bucknell on March 15.
English, a junior starting guard, scored seven points for Bucknell. She was the third leading scorer in the game for the Bison.
Muldrow is a 2013 EOCHS graduate, while English is a 2015 EOCHS graduate, who both played for former EOCHS head coach Derrick Johnson.
Muldrow is having a great season for the Mountaineers. She earned All-Big 12 First Team honors and is a finalist for the 2018 Cheryl Miller Award, presented to the nation’s top small forward. Muldrow will graduate all-time top 10 at WVU in:
- Career scoring
- Field goals made
- Field goals attempted
- Rebounds
- Offensive rebounds
- Blocks
- Games played
- 10-point games
- 20-point games
- Double-doubles
Meanwhile, English started all 32 games and was the third-leading scorer this season for Bucknell (22-10) as she averaged 10 points per game. English also made Third Team on the All-Patriot League.
The Mountaineers (23-11) defeated St. Joseph’s, 79-51, in the second round on Sunday, March 18, at home. Muldrow had another strong game with 12 points and 10 rebounds. West Virginia will host James Madison in the third round Thursday, March 22.
