Host East Orange Campus HS boys’ basketball team takes third in tournament

EAST ORANGE – The East Orange Campus High School boys’ varsity basketball team won two of three games to finish in third place in the annual East Orange Campus Christmas Tournament.

Marquise Kindel had 17 points and seven rebounds and Jordan Taylor had 17 points and three rebounds in the 81-48 win over McKee Tech, N.Y. in the first round on Dec. 27. Dwight Pressley had 14 points, Randy Joseph had six points and five rebounds, Anton Lawrence added seven points and Shyid Daniels contributed five points.

Kindel had 23 points and Taylor had 15, but the Jaguars lost to John F. Kennedy, N.Y., 56-54, Dec. 29. Daniels had seven points, Arthur Mitchell had six points and Joseph added three points.

The Jaguars defeated Elizabeth, 58-58, in the third-place consolation on Dec. 30. Kindel scored 22 points; Lawrence, Mitchell and Joseph each had eight points; Taylor had five points, Assaumane Kande had four points and Daniels added three points as the Jaguars moved to a 3-3 record.

In earlier action, the Jaguars defeated Bloomfield Tech, 71-62, Dec. 22, at home for their first win of the season. EOCHS lost at Randolph, 66-60, Dec. 23.
