GLEN RIDGE, NJ – Christina Fabiano recently was named the new Glen Ridge High School varsity field hockey head coach.

Fabiano graduated from The College of New Jersey this past May. She was a standout goalie for the field hockey team all four years at TCNJ in which she was a member of the team that won the NCAA Division III national championship in her freshman year in 2014. As a senior last fall, she was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and a first team All-American.

Fabiano earned a bachelor’s degree in business management and is currently pursuing her

master’s in sports management with a specialization of athletic development through online work with the University in Florida.

Fabiano is a graduate of Wayne Hills HS.

This will be Fabiano’s second coaching experience. She has coached club lacrosse in South Jersey.

Fabiano is thrilled to guide the GRHS field hockey program..

“It’s feels really good,” Fabiano said. “It’s going to be a brand new experience, and I know the girls seem pretty excited about it, so I think it’s going to be a very fun season.”

The Ridgers are coming off a successful season in which they advanced to the semifinals of the Essex County Tournament, falling to Montclair, 1-0, and reached the quarterfinals of the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 state tournament, falling to Madison to finish with a 9-5-4 record.

Fabiano is looking for the Ridgers to build on last year’s success.

“They gave the state tournament a run for their money last year, so I hope to have at least that same record and get far as we did last year, if not further,” she said. “We play some really great competition and it look like they stuck with them, like West Essex and Oak Knoll. Hopefully, we can improve with teams like that.”
