Glen Ridge HS baseball team to visit Nutley in GNT

GLEN RIDGE – The Glen Ridge High School varsity baseball team, seeded 14th, will visit third-seeded Nutley in the first round of the Greater Newark Tournament on Friday, May 6, at 4 p.m.

The Ridgers defeated North 13th Street Tech, 19-1, in a Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division game in Newark on April 27. Griffin Cancro went 4-for-5 with two triples, two RBI and three runs; Keeler Patton went 3-for-5 with a triple, two RBI and three runs; Max Thompson went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI; Matt Buchmann went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI; Owen Hannigan went 3-for-3 with a double, RBI, and three runs; Mac Kottrey went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs; Robert Spitaletta had a double and Carter Crutchfield had an RBI.

Brian Schnack went 3-for-3 with two doubles and Spitaletta went 3-for-4 with three RBI in the 136 home win over East Side on April 29 in a divisional game. Cancro went 1-for-2 with two walks, three RBI and two runs scored; Crutchfield was 1-for-2 with a walk, two RBI and two runs scored; Hannigan went 2-for-2 with two runs and Thompson went 1-for-2 with a double, walk and three RBI. GRHS improved to a 7-6 record.
