GLEN RIDGE – The Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity basketball enjoyed a decent amount of success this season. The Ridgers recorded 12 wins while qualifying for the postseason.
Undoubtedly, head coach Liam Carr said he was pleased with the season, particularly with the play of sophomore guard Tyler Liddy. Overall, Liddy led his team with 8.8 points per game and 2.5 assists per game. In addition, he averaged 3.8 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.
For his efforts, Liddy was awarded with All-Super Essex Conference-Freedom Division first team and Worrall Media All-Area second team honors. “Tyler’s stats are not outstanding, but he sacrifices better stats to make our team better,” Carr said.
Another player who also enjoyed a successful season for the Ridgers was junior forward Charlie DeLuca, who finished with a second-best 7.1 points per game while finishing with a team-high of 4.7 rebounds per game. “Charlie is a tough player as well and the Freedom Division coaches voted him to the second team all-conference,” Carr said. DeLuca also made All-Area second team.
Notably, junior Ryan Liddy, Tyler’s brother, made All-SEC-Freedom honorable mention and All-Area honorable mention. Ryan Liddy recorded 4.8 points per game while also finishing with averages of 2.3 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game.
