Glen Ridge HS boys’ basketball star Tyler Liddy nets 1,000th point to help Ridgers clinch SEC-Independence Division title

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – Senior guard Tyler Liddy scored a game-high 19 points, including the 1,000th point of his career, to lead the Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 55-46 win at Newark Weequahic on Feb. 13.

In addition, the Ridgers, under head coach Liam Carr, clinched the Super Essex Conference-Independence Division title with the victory. Glen Ridge improved to 17-6 overall and 13-1 in the division.

Liddy needed 12 points to reach the milestone and now has 1,007 career points.

Liam Gunnarsson had 15 points, George Kinzler had 13 and Simon Low had six for Glen Ridge.

Liddy became the 13th player in GRHS boys’ and girls’ basketball history to reach 1,000 points, including his father, Tim Liddy, who had 1,123 points from 1985-88. Tim Liddy was the GRHS boys’ head basketball coach who preceded Carr and is currently the GRHS athletic director.
