Glen Ridge HS boys’ basketball team defeats Caldwell; gears up for postseason

GLEN RIDGE – David Weissberger scored 11 points with two 3-pointers and Tyler Liddy had 10 points, hitting two treys, to lead the Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 49-22 home win over Caldwell on Feb. 19. George Kinzler had nine points; Ryan Liddy had eight points; Charlie DeLuca had six points; and Nick Weber-Zazzu had five points. After leading 12-5 at the end of the first quarter and 26-13 at halftime, the Ridgers outscored Caldwell, 20-6, for a 46-19 lead.

BHS lost at Bloomfield, 50-37, Feb. 20 to move to an 10-11 record. Kinzler had 10 points; DeLuca had seven and Tyler Liddy had six.

In previous action, Tyler Liddy scored 18 points, but the Ridgers lost at Christ the King Prep, 57-45, Feb. 16 in Newark. DeLuca and Weissenberger each had eight points; and Kinzler and Ryan Liddy each had four points.

GRHS, seeded sixth, will host No. 11 seed University Charter in the first round of the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 tournament on Feb. 29.
