GLEN RIDGE, NJ – Tyler Liddy scored 21 points and Charlie DeLuca had nine points to lead the top-seeded Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity basketball team to a 65-37 win over No. 16 seed North Star Academy in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 state tournament on Feb. 28 at home.
Max Thompson had eight points; David Weissenberger had seven points; Liam Gunnarsson had six points; Avery Hackett posted five points and Ryan Liddy contributed four points for the Ridgers, who won their sixth straight game to improve to 21-5 and will host No. 8 seed Newark Collegiate Academy on March 2 in the quarterfinals. The winner will face the winner between No. 12 seed Shabazz and No. 13 North Arlington in the semifinals on March 4. The final is March 6.
