Glen Ridge HS boys’ basketball team starts season at 1-1

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity basketball team lost to Weequahic and defeated Boonton on consecutive days to start the season.

Tyler Liddy had a team-high 16 points and fellow junior David Weissberger had 10 points in the 62-52 home loss to Weequahic on Friday, Dec. 16, in the season opener. Max Thompson, a senior, had 8 points; senior Charlie DeLuca and sophomore Liam Gunnarsson each had 5 points and junior George Kinzler and senior Ryan Liddy each had 4 points for GRHS.

The Ridgers defeated Boonton, 81-50, Saturday, Dec. 16, at GRHS to move to a 1-1 record.

Weissenberger had 15 points; junior Avery Hackett had 14 points and 6 rebounds; Gunnarson had 11 points; Tyler Liddy had 10 points, 5 steals and 4 rebounds; Kinzler contributed 10 points and grabbed 9 rebounds; DeLuca scored 9 points with 6 rebounds and 4 assists; Thompson posted 8 points and 4 rebounds; and sophomore Simon Low and Ryan Liddy each added 2 points.
