Glen Ridge HS boys’ lacrosse team advances in ECT

GLEN RIDGE – Nathaniel Johns had five goals and four assists to lead the fifth-seeded Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity lacrosse team to a 10-2 win over 12th-seeded Newark Academy in the first round of the Essex County Tournament at Watsessing Park field on April 30.

Max Auborn had one goal and two assists; Owen Gleeson, Steven Toping and Cole Travia each had one goal and one assist; Joe Marchesano had one goal and Adam Juros made 11 saves for the Ridgers, who snapped a five-game losing streak and improved to a 3-9 record. GRHS will visit fourth-seeded Montclair Kimberley Academy in the quarterfinals on May 3.

In their previous game, Chris Harris, Marchesano and Travia each had one goal and Topping had one assist in the 12-3 loss to Kinnelon in a Gibbs Division game on April 27 at Watsessing Park field.
