Glen Ridge HS boys’ lacrosse team rallies past Montclair

GLEN RIDGE – Junior Tyler Grady had two goals and three assists; senior Michael Faugno and senior Nathaniel Johns each had two goals and one assist; and freshman Trevor Deubner had one goal and three assists to lead the Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity lacrosse team to a 9-8 comeback win over Montclair on April 14 at Watsessing Park. Sophomores Joe Marchesano and Cole Travia each had one goal; and senior Adam Juros made 17 saves for the Ridgers, who erased a 4-1 deficit in the first quarter by outscoring Montclair, 4-0, in the second quarter and 4-1 in the third. The Ridgers ended a three-game losing streak.

GRHS fell to Montclair Kimberley Academy, 10-9, in double overtime on April 16 at Watsessing Park field. Grady scored a game-high four goals and added one assist. Johns scored three goals; Faugno had one goal and one assist; Travia had one goal and senior Owen Gleeson recorded three assists. Juros made 14 saves.

The Ridgers fell to Bergen Catholic, 14-8, April 18 at Watsessing Park to move to a 2-6 record. Faugno and Johns each had two goals and two assists; Gleeson had two goals and one assist; Grady had two goals and Chris Harris had one assist for the Ridgers, who moved to a 2-6 record.

In earlier action, Gleeson, Deubner, and Grady each had one goal and one assist in the 16-4 loss at Ridgewood on April 12. Faugno scored a goal and Juros made nine saves.
