Glen Ridge HS boys’ soccer team advances to North 2, Group 1 state tourney quarterfinals

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – Gavin Robertson scored two goals and Zack Debelak and Modesto Nogueira each had a goal to lead the fourth-seeded Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity soccer team to a 4-2 win over No. 13 seed Newark West Side in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 state tournament on Oct. 29 at Watsessing Park in Bloomfield.

Alex Cabrera had an assist and Logan Kotronis had five saves for Glen Ridge, which won its fourth straight and improved to 10-3-1.

The Ridgers will host No. 12 seed Whippany Park in the quarterfinals on Nov. 1. The winner will face the winner of No. 1 Dayton and No. 8 Palisades Park in the semifinals Nov. 5.
