GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The top-seeded Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity soccer team defeated North Arlington and Ridgefield to advance to the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 tournament championship game.
The Ridgers, under head coach Steve Reitberger, improved to a 14-5-1 record and will host second-seeded Dayton in the championship game on Thursday, Nov.10, at 2 p.m. at Watsessing Park. Dayton has a 15-7-1 record.
Lucas Burke and Cole Travia each scored a goal for a 2-0 halftime lead as the Ridgers defeated eighth-seeded North Arlington, 2-1, in the quarterfinals on Nov. 3 at Watsessing Park. Gaetan Ternes had an assist and Quinn Allemand made seven saves for the Ridgers.
Flynn Martin scored both goals in the 2-1 win over fifth-seeded Ridgefield in the semifinals on Monday, Nov. 10, at Watsessing Park. Arran Robertson and Gavin Robertson each had an assist and Allemand made six saves.
