Glen Ridge HS boys’ soccer team in line for top seed in state section tournament

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity soccer team was expected to get the top seed in the state North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 tournament that begins next week.

The seeding pairings were expected to be announced on Oct. 26.

GRHS was scheduled to visit Orange on Oct. 25 before hosting Hillside on Oct. 27 at Watsessing Park at 4 p.m. in the final regular season game.

GRHS, seeded 11th, lost to sixth-seeded Millburn, 7-0, in the first round of the Essex County Tournament on Oct. 19 in Millburn.

The Ridgers tied Bloomfield, 1-1, Oct. 20, at Watsessing Park. Arran Robertson scored for the Ridgers.

Cole Travia had two goals, and Robertson and Gaetan Ternes each had an assist in the 2-0 win at Verona on Oct. 24. Quinn Allemand had four saves and Grant Naylor had one save for the Ridgers, who moved to an 11-4-1 record.
