Glen Ridge HS boys’ soccer team splits two games in ECT

GLEN RIDGE, NJ (updated Tuesday Oct. 24, 1:25 p.m.) – The 10th-seeded Glen Ridge High School varsity boys’ soccer team went 1-1 in the Essex County Tournament.

Matt Whitney scored on an assist from Arran Robertson to lead the Ridgers to a 1-0 upset win over seventh-seeded Caldwell in the first round on Oct. 19. Logan Kotronis made four saves for the Ridgers, who avenged a 2-1 loss to Caldwell on Oct. 7.

The Ridgers then fell at second-seeded Montclair, 3-0, in the quarterfinals on Saturday, Oct. 21.

The Ridgers bounced back with a 6-3 win over Pope John on Monday, Oct. 23, to move to a 6-9-1 record. Whitney had two goals; Emmett Martin and Arran Robertson each had a goal and an assist; Brian Schnack and Cole Schubert each had a goal and Travis Burnett had an assist. Julian Reda made four saves for GRHS.
