GLEN RIDGE, NJ (updated Friday Oct. 7, 10:44 a.m.) – For the second straight year, Pelle Nogueira finished first overall to lead the Glen Ridge High School boys’ varsity cross-country team at the Super Essex Conference-Liberty Division Championships on Oct. 5 at Branch Brook Park in Newark.
Nogueira, a senior, ran 16:48.81 to finish first among the 64 finishers.
Senior Lane Darby was 16th in 18:51.0 and senior Greg Olsen was 19th in 19:09.9 for the Ridgers, who took third in the team standings among the nine teams. Bloomfield was first and Newark Academy was second.
Sophomore Davie Ogilvie was 27th in 19:37.8; freshman Ren DeBartolomeis was 28th in 19:38.3; senior Harry Keppel was 41st in 20:30.4 and freshman Ethan Hackmeyer was 51st in 21:15.2 for the Ridgers.
On the girls’ side, freshman Sofia Costa was second overall in 21:22.3 and senior Alyssa Smolen was fourth in 22:52.8 for GRHS.
