Glen Ridge HS field hockey team advances in state tournament

GLEN RIDGE, NJ – Gretchen Gilmore scored two goals and Caroline Keavey and Elizabeth O’Connell each had a goal to lead the seventh-seeded Glen Ridge High School varsity field hockey team to a 4-1 win over 10th-seeded Florence in the first round of the NJSIAA North Jersey Section 2, Group 1 state tournament on Oct. 25 at George Washington field.

The Ridgers, who improved to 9-4-4, will visit second-seeded Madison in the quarterfinals on Oct. 30 at 2 p.m. The winner will face either sixth-seeded Point Pleasant Boro or third-seeded Delaware Valley in the semifinals on Nov. 1.
