GLEN RIDGE, NJ – The Glen Ridge High School varsity football team’s undefeated start to the season came to an end with a 28-14 home loss to Cedar Grove on Friday afternoon, Sept. 29, at Hurrell Field in a North Jersey Super Football Conference-National Red Division game.
The Ridgers moved to a 3-1 record.
GRHS led 7-0 at the end of the first quarter. Senior quarterback/co-captain Tyler Liddy threw a 49-yard touchdown pass to junior split end Tyler Strong and senior co-captain Joe Marchesano kicked the extra point.
The teams traded touchdowns in the second quarter. Senior split end Avery Hackett ran for a 63-yard TD and Marchesano kicked the extra point for the Ridgers, who led 14-7 at the half.
But Cedar Grove rallied in the second half with two TDs in the third quarter and one TD in the fourth quarter to move to a 2-2 record.

DB Weissenberger: 4 tackles.
Next game: The Ridgers will host Verona on Saturday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. at Hurrell Field in a NJSFC non-division game.
